Thomas T. Herek, 79, of Cedar Hill died Sept. 5, 2023. Mr. Herek was a U.S. Army veteran. He started his career with Chicago and North Western Railroad and retired after many years of service from Union Pacific Railroad. He was very involved in his community. He was a member of the Cedar Hill Elks Lodge, VFW Cedar Hill Post 5331, the Masonic Lodge and numerous other organizations. Born June 16, 1944, in Waukesha, Wis., he was the son of Gertrude (Pezewski) and Ambrose Herek. He was preceded in death by his wife: Gail K. Herek.
He is survived by two children: Kim (the late Jim) Parrett and Edward Kowach Jr.; four grandchildren: Tori Higgins, Sean Higgins, Courtney Parrett and Samantha (Andrew) Johnson; five great-grandchildren: Ella, Anthony, Zoey, Gwen and Autumn; one brother: Richard Herek; as well as many other family members and friends. He was also preceded in death by two children: Sue Higgins and Jean Djirlic; and three siblings: Donald Herek, Robert Herek and Mary Herek.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 p.m. until the memorial service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy 30, in Cedar Hill. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
