Robert Lee ‘Bob’ Johnson, 87, Festus

Robert Lee “Bob” Johnson, 87, of Festus died July 19, 2023, at his home. Mr. Johnson was Christian and longtime member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Festus-Crystal City. He retired after 30 years as an over-the-road truck driver for Yellow Freight Systems in St. Louis. He was recognized for over three million accident-free miles and being the best dressed trucker. He enjoyed southern gospel music and spending time with family. Born Nov. 1, 1935, in Des Arc, he was the son of the late Wilma (Charlton) and Glen Johnson. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Shirley (Durham) Johnson.

He is survived by his wife: Robin (Couch) Johnson; four daughters: Vicki Johnson of Maryland Heights, Robin (Roger) Newlan of Mattoon, Ill., Janna Johnson of Superior, Colo., and Chris (John Hill) Johnson of Highlandville; three stepchildren: James (Jennifer) Ramsey of Oakville, Brenda Ramsey of Hillsboro, and Amy (John) Denham of Indiana; two brothers: Byron (Carla) Johnson of O’Fallon and Stanley (Sue) Johnson of Festus; a sister: Brenda (Bob) Eaton of St. Charles; 16 grandchildren: Crystal, Rachel, Aaron, Hannah, Dustin, Ryon, Carmen, Christen, Michael, Julia, Jadon, Joshua, Kayla, Kevin, Jacob, and Elyssa; and six great-grandchildren: Aisley, Avery, Brett, Timothy, Marshal, and Temperance.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until time of service at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 23, at First Baptist Church of Festus-Crystal City, officiated by Pastor Carey Jones. Committal service and internment will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 24, in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City, officiated by Pastor Jim Ramsey. Memorials may be made to the building fund for the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church of Festus-Crystal City. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
