Kenneth Royce Porter, 79, of Cedar Hill died June 16, 2023, in Cedar Hill. Mr. Porter worked for 30 years for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers after earning a master’s degree. He enjoyed history, natural sciences and world cultures and helped celebrate the 200-year anniversary of the Lewis and Clark expedition by forming a group that followed the trail as well as going to classrooms with other re-enactors to teach students about the expedition. He volunteered with the Missouri Conservation Organization. As a teen, he studied martial arts while his father, who was in the Air Force, was stationed in Japan. He was born Feb. 16, 1944, in Portland, Ore., the son of the late Lauren and Phyllis (Deplois) Porter.

He is survived by his wife: Suzanne (Suzy) Harris Porter; a daughter: Avena (Bobby) Vigue; a sister: Virginia Biddle; a brother: Jim (Bev) Porter; a sister-in-law: Maren Porter; and other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife: Sharon (Lee) Porter; a son: Wesley Porter; a brother: Gale Porter; and a brother-in-law: Robert Biddle.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, Cedar Hill. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, at the funeral home, followed by a graveside service at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Lewis & Clark National Park Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
