William Robert "Bill" Erdel, 75, of Glencoe died May 1, 2026, in Wildwood. Mr. Erdel was a 1968 graduate of Mexico High School and earned the rank of Eagle Scout with Boy Scout Troop 35. He served in the U.S. Army, including a tour in Vietnam from 1971 to 1972. He went on to build a successful career spanning more than 30 years in the home remodeling industry in St. Louis. He was known for his strong work ethic and the care he showed to those around him. Born June 17, 1950, in Mexico, Mo., he was the son of the late John R. and Kay Hagan Erdel.
He is survived by two children: Alex (Vicky) Erdel of Wildwood and Katherine Erdel of Columbia; two grandchildren: Theo and Sophia Erdel of Wildwood; three siblings: Dick (Becky) Erdel of Columbia, Dan (Cheri) Erdel of Mexico and Kathy (Paul) Beykirch of Sedalia; his companion: Beth Kleekamp of Washington; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services were held May 12 at The Oratory of Saints Gregory and Augustine Catholic Church in Richmond Heights. Interment was in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Arrangements are under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory in Ballwin.
