Wiley Rinney “Mack” Junior Sims, 89, of Festus died Sept. 5, 2025, at his home. Mr. Sims was a retired deputy chief of the R7 Fire Protection District and a former president of Ozark React, the R7 Neighborhood Watch and the R7 Water District. He was also a member of the Second Baptist Church in Festus. Born May 4, 1936, in Festus, he was the son of the late Virginia (Mahue) and Wiley A. Simms.

He is survived by his wife: Florence Marie (Dunham) Sims; a son: Wiley David (Carrie) Sims Sr. of St. James; a daughter: Joyce Marie (Jim) Jackson of Festus; five siblings: Tom (Janet) Simms of California, Debbie (Ted) Freund of Festus, Barbara (Stan) Schepker of St. Louis, Janet (the late Alan) Turner of Festus and Mary Simms of California; eight grandchildren: Robert, Cory, Jessica, Felicia, Stephen, Wesley, Hailey and Eric; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister: Betty (the late Frank) Pruneau; and a grandson: Wiley David Sims Jr.

Visitation is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. until services at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, officiated by Mr. Jim Waynick. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the Ozark Food Pantry, 1 Sunset Park, Box 841, Festus, 63028. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
