Patterson, Trevia

Trevia Madeline Patterson, 95, of Barnhart died Nov. 26, 2024, at de Greef Hospice House in St. Louis County. Mrs. Patterson was an accomplished seamstress and basket weaver. She enjoyed trying new crafts with her daughters, sharing her wisdom, playing games and spending time with family. Born Oct. 15, 1929, in Strangers Home, Ark., she was the daughter of foster parents the late Roy and Bessie Smith.

 She was preceded in death by her husband: Homer Lowell Patterson, whom she married on Sept. 18, 1948.

She is survived by five children: Connie (Bob) Fox of Cape Girardeau, Dennis (Kate) Patterson of Imperial, Sally Gilman of Kansas City, Mo., Debbie (Mike) Elder of Lexington, S.C., and Donna (Brian) Movesian of Barnhart; ten grandchildren: Steve Fox, Jim (Rose) Fox, Greg (Jen) Patterson, Jill (Nate) Newman, Laura (Steve) Melvin, Chris Gilman, Beth (Jon) Skinner, Matthew (Anja) Elder, Madeline (Chuck Housley) Movesian and Allison Movesian; and 15 great-grandchildren: Adrian, Amelia, Cyrus, Luke, Kara, Reid, Meredith, Lexie, Reece, Carrie, Charlotte, Arlow, Connor, Sarah and Sophia.

She was preceded in death by a daughter: Patricia “Cricket” Patterson; a granddaughter: Lana Katherine Fox; and five natural brothers: Carol Owens, Paul Owens, Otto Owens, Al Ireland, and Doris Ireland.

Visitation is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W Main, in Festus, officiated by Chaplain Mark McMullin. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Gravelton. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
