Thomas Owen Black, 83, of Crystal City died Nov. 18, 2025, in St. Louis. Mr. Black was a member of the Festus-Crystal City Elks Lodge 1721 for 54 years. He enjoyed reading, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family and friends. Born September 8, 1942, in Bonne Terre, he was the son of the late John D. and Opal B. (Webb) Black.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years: Betty L. Black
He is survived by two granddaughters: Heather (Mike) and Kate (Justin); three great-grandchildren: Daelyn, Addy and Carter; a stepson: Mark; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends.
He also was preceded in death by a son: John T. Black; two stepsons: Charles (Jill) Sanders and Anthony Sanders; and two grandsons: Charles Sanders and Matthew Sanders.
A graveside service is scheduled for noon, Monday, Dec. 1, in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, officiated by Pastor Ryan Sutton. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 211 N. Broadway, Suite 2035, St. Louis, 63102. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel in Festus.
