Terry W. Hayes, 75, of De Soto died May 31, 2025, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis. Mr. Hayes retired from the Union Pacific Railroad Shop in De Soto after 41 years of service. He also served in the National Guard. Born July 27, 1949, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Norma Lee (Kellison) Gowan Hayes and Benjamin Gowan Jr. He was the stepson of the late Herman Hayes, who, along with his mother, helped raise him.
He is survived by a child: Tim (Theresa) Hayes of Pacific; five siblings: Deborah House of De Soto, Linda Nappier of Fenton, Rhonda Landau of Dittmer, Cindy Greer of De Soto and William Hayes of De Soto; seven grandchildren: Alesha, Alexis, Ashley (Bruce II), Kyle (Grace), Tristan, Faith and Justin; five great-grandchildren: Adaline, Bruce III; Braelyn, Mason and Savanah; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Bonnie Lee Hayes.
Visitation is scheduled for 11 a.m. until a funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto, officiated by Brother Bob Thebeau. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, 16100 Chesterfield Parkway West, Chesterfield, 63017. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
