Sophia Irene (Windhorst) Bunch, 87, of Dittmer died Sept. 14, 2026. Mrs. Bunch loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed reading, embroidering and relaxing while watching her favorite television programs. She also had a special love for basset hounds and took pride in raising and breeding them. She will be remembered for her love for her family, her caring nature and the passions she enjoyed. Born Dec. 2, 1938, in Metropolis, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Truman and Katie (Jump) Windhorst.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Bobby L. Bunch.
She is survived by three children: Robert (Carolyn) Bunch, Randy (Shari Gray) Bunch and Michelle “Missy” (Scott) Ellis; five grandchildren: Andy Bunch, Alisha Bunch, Stuart Silverman, Jared (McKenna) Silverman and Justin (Kaytie) Bunch; a sister: Nadine Moehlman; a niece: Roshelle (Mark) Bender; two nephews: Mike Patty and Jeff (Barbie) Patty; and numerous other family members and friends.
She also was preceded in death by a brother-in-law: Ted Moehlman.
Visitation is scheduled from 1 p.m. until a service at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. A graveside service will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to Fairview United Methodist Church, 7998 Fairview Church Road, Grubville, 63041. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
