Shirley V. Clifton, 81, of Park Hills died Feb. 5, 2026, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Clifton worked in the assessor’s office in St. Louis County. She was a member of the De Soto Community Church of God while she lived in De Soto and later became a member of the Flat River Church of God in Park Hills. Born May 31, 1944, in Jacksonville, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Harold and Virginia (Short) Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Russell Clifton.
She is survived by two children: Robert Clifton of Park Hills and David (Lisa) Clifton of De Soto; two grandchildren: Maddi (Collin) Underwood and Travis (Desi) Clifton; two great-grandchildren: Theo Clifton and Hudson Underwood; and two siblings: Ty Johnson of Jacksonville, Ill., and Carol Dalen of Jacksonville, Ill.
She also was preceded in death by five siblings: Barbara Tippy, Gary Johnson, Joyce Floyd, Rowdy Johnson and Robin Johnson.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until a funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. Interment will be in Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
