Panilawon, Sarah

Sarah Marie (Schlau) Panilawon, 37, of De Soto died Oct. 5, 2024, after a three-year battle with cancer. Mrs. Panilawon was known for her kindness and generosity to others. Relationships were paramount to her, and she loved spending time with her family, friends and pets. She loved to have all her family gather at her home and enjoyed showing her skills as the “hostess with the mostess.” She had a passion for cooking and making desserts from scratch, particularly pies, cheesecakes and German chocolate cake. She was a member of Grace Life Church and valued the experiences there. She loved spending time outdoors, especially camping with her husband, bringing enough supplies to set up a mini kitchen at their campsite. Sarah was known as an intelligent, hard-working, indispensable, dedicated employee who loved a challenge. She will be remembered for her light, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, love and grace. Born Dec. 16, 1986, in Centralia, she was the daughter of Diane Cook (John) Burris of Centralia and James “Jimmy” (Missy) Schlau of Centralia.

She is survived by her husband: Sean Panilawon, whom she married on April 28, 2023, in Hillsboro; four children: Samara Desiree Panilawon, Lillian Ann Panilawon, Kaia Marie Panilawon and Mila Mae Panilawon; two brothers: Greg (Rhiannon) Storm and Corey (Alexis) Schlau; a sister: Sarah (Shea) Hodge; parents-in-law: Teresita Panilawon Huber and Curt Benjamin Huber; a sister-in-law: Tiffany Ann (Nicholas James) Corirossi; a brother-in-law: Michael Ray Throgmorton; nieces and nephews: Harper Dean Storm, Braylon and Turner Hodge, Isabella Rose, Alana Ann, Nora Marie and Lorelei Lynn Corirossi; and many other family members and friends.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at Irvin Macz Funeral Home, 234 South Elm St., in Centralia. An additional visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. until a celebration of life at 10 a.m.  Friday, Oct. 11, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Kevin Cox. Burial will follow in McClelland Andereck Cemetery in rural Sandoval. Memorials may be made to Kaia and Mila’s education fund (checks payable to Sean Panilawon) or the Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital in the Memo: Evelyn’s House, for the Evelyn Hospice House in Creve Coeur. Arrangements are under the direction of Irvin Macz Funeral Home.
