Samuel Cox, 76, of Ste. Genevieve died Aug. 8, 2025. Mr. Cox was a member of the American Legion 150, the VFW 2210 and the Ste. Genevieve Elks 2674. Also known as "The Mailman," he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, reading, and above all, his time with friends and family. He is remembered for his witty humor and storytelling. Born July 11, 1949, he was the son of the late Lena M. (Vest) and Odell H. Cox.
He is survived by a special friend: Robin M. Wood; a son: Jason (special friend Dani) Cox; four daughters: Rachel (Jay) Wengert, Sara (Dan) Mitchell, Jennifer (Jamie) Lauck and Stacey (Bill) Shepard; four siblings: Gloria (Bob) Means, Kenneth Cox, Alana (Paul) Drury and Charles (Roberta) Cox; 10 grandchildren: Cheyenne, Linzie, Macy, Dustin, Taylor, Dane, Elise, Allison, Breanna and Bryce; and four great-grandchildren: Waylon, Hallie, Colby and Lilly.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Gary Cox.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, and resumes from 9 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at Basler Funeral Home, 685 Center Drive, in Ste. Genevieve. Burial with full military honors will be in Crestlawn Cemetery in Ste. Genevieve. Memorials may be made to the Disabled Sportsman Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Basler Funeral Home.
