Ruth Ann (Reeves) Williams, 88, of Hillsboro died April 20, 2026, in St. Louis. Mrs. Williams was a schoolteacher, a profession that brought her happiness and fulfillment. She was known for her care, patience and kindness. She will be remembered for her unwavering love of family, gentle strength and generous heart. Born Jan. 1, 1938, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late John Reeves and Dorothy (Ruble) Reeves.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Shirley D. Williams, whom she married on Oct. 20, 1956.
She is survived by two sons: Jerry Williams and James Williams; two sisters: Evelyn Ortwein and Jackie Thomas; six grandchildren: Josh (Shylah) Williams, Jacob (Candace) Williams, James (Laura) Williams, Jerry (Adrienne) Williams Jr., Shane (Tonya) Williams and Holly Williams (Kevin) Shepard; her step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren: Tucker, Tanner, Tinley, Sawyer, Grady, Oscar, Alexander James, Jerry, Tristan, Marley, Jack and Dorothy; and many other family members and friends.
She also was preceded in death by a son: John Carl Williams; a daughter‑in‑law: Linda Williams; and a brother: Jerry M. Reeves.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 p.m. until a funeral service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, Robert Brown Chapel, 103 Fourth St., in Hillsboro. Interment will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 30, in St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Sullivan. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary, Robert Brown Chapel.
