Rosemary C. “Roz” Pope, 81, of De Soto died June 10, 2026. Mrs. Pope cared for others as a licensed practical nurse with the De Soto School District, where she was known by students and families for her compassion and kindness. She loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed traveling and making memories. She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit. Born Jan. 11, 1945, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late John and Leona (Schroeder) Mullen.
She was preceded in death by her husband: William J. “Bill” Pope, whom she married on Oct. 8, 1966, in St. Louis.
She is survived by three children: Erik (Angela) Pope of Bonne Terre, Andrea (Terri Cordia) Pope of St. Louis and Timothy (Chandy Watkins) Pope of Hillsboro; two grandchildren: Jessica (Justin) Hampton and Riley (Sierra) Buttars; a great-grandchild: Bodie Buttars; her caretaker: Sharon Thebeau, whom she called her “angel on earth”; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
She also was preceded in death by a sister: Karen Cottrell.
A funeral service was held today, June 15, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto. Interment followed in Calvary Cemetery in De Soto. Arrangements were under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
