Robert Lewis Govreau, 81, of Festus died July 15, 2026, at his home. Mr. Govreau was the owner and operator of Twin Gables Grocery Store and Mobile Home Court for more than 40 years. He served the R-7 community and was well-known for his sandwiches, smiling face and quick wit. He was a member of the Jefferson R-7 Fire Department for more than 20 years and also served on the board. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City and the Knights of Columbus 1230, a Cub Scout Master and an Eagle Scout. He was an avid gardener and talented storyteller. He will be remembered for his kind heart and compassion and for knowing someone wherever he went. Born June 5, 1945, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Eva (Akers) and Philip Govreau Sr.
He is survived by his wife: Jacqueline “Jackie” (Brock) Govreau; a son: Nathan (Lori) Govreau of Festus; a daughter: Jessica (Scott) Williams of De Soto; five grandchildren: Cassie (Tyler) Austin, Eva (Dane) Murphy, Brock (Bryanna) Govreau, Anna (Steven) Speidel and Quinn Williams; four great-grandchildren: Lilly Austin, Kenadie Austin, Kent Austin and Braylann Govreau and one more on the way; and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Philip (the late Sharon) Govreau Jr.; and a nephew: Kyle Govreau.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 555 Bailey Road, in Crystal City. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
