Skidmore, Richard

Richard C. Skidmore, 75, of Festus died May 21, 2024, at DeGreeff Hospice House in St. Louis. Mr. Skidmore was a police officer for the city of St. Louis for 35 years. Following his retirement, he drove a school bus for the Festus School District for five years. Born July 11, 1948, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Raymond and Ruth (Barklow) Skidmore.

He is survived by his wife who he married on July 27, 1991: Diana (Pate) Skidmore; four children: Sharon (Jim) Skidmore-Sterns of Eureka, Michael Skidmore of St. Louis, Samuel (Kayla) Skidmore of De Soto and Margaret Skidmore of Creve Coeur; two grandchildren: Lauren Heatherly of St. Louis and Cooper Skidmore of De Soto; a sister: Barbara (Joe) Dixon of St. Louis; a brother-in-law: David Pate of Mauritius, Africa; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister: Virginia (the late Joe) Gombas.

A celebration of life will be private. Memorials may be made to Backstoppers.
