Oscar Dale Skaggs, 80, of Dittmer died Nov. 28, 2024. Mr. Skaggs worked as a truck driver. He also was a retired Teamster. He loved to spend time with his family, fishing, traveling, panning for gold and searching for gems. Rarely did he miss having coffee each morning with his friends. He will be remembered for his generosity, hard work, knowledge and willingness to help anyone. Born Dec. 26, 1943, in Valles Mines, he was the son of the late Irene Stewart Blake and Oscar Franklin Skaggs.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years: Mairine Holcomb Skaggs of Dittmer; two children: Renee (Bryan) Winchell of Lampe and Michael (Tricia) Skaggs of High Ridge; five grandchildren: Brittany Richardson, Keith Winchell, Kyle Winchell, Kaitlyn Skaggs and Emma Skaggs; six great-grandchildren: Austin, Kaylee, Raelynn, Lakyn, Riley and Rhett; seven siblings: Paula, Margaret, Debbie, Rolla, Arthur, Dale and Elaine; and many other family members and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Crescent Cemetery, P.O. Box 295, Eureka, 63025. Arrangements are under the direction of Jay B. Smith Funeral Home in Fenton.
