Michael Wayne Thomas Sr., 75, of Cedar Hill died April 29, 2026, in Cedar Hill. Mr. Thomas was known for his warmth, kindness and quiet strength. He loved animals and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his patience, dedication and commitment. Born Oct. 6, 1950, in Warrenton, he was the son of the late Walter Thomas and Martha (Gaither) Steadman.
He is survived by his wife: Loreen (Shepherd) Thomas; a daughter: Michelle Spence; six grandchildren: Kayla Spence, Karissa (Rickey) Coulter, Dani (Joseph) Sprock, Paula Thomas, Michael Thomas III and Jade (David) Landers; 19 great-grandchildren: Gracie, Kloee, Carson, Joey, Bobby, Desi, Kylie, Landon, Gannon, Quintan, Keegan, Mayson, Camron, Kinsey, Brooklyn, Haylee, Katrina, Alystar and Ciel; a great-great-granddaughter: Niomi Johnson; two siblings: James Clifford (Janet) Thomas and Paula (Donald) Lucas; and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son: Michael W. Thomas Jr.; two grandchildren: Kile Spence and Shauna Biehler; and a great-granddaughter: Kiara Holman.
Visitation is scheduled from 3 p.m. until services at 5 p.m. Friday, May 8, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
