Matilda A. “Tillie” Allen, 89, of De Soto died Oct. 3, 2023, in De Soto. Mrs. Allen was a nurse’s aide. Born Oct. 8, 1933, in Richland, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Ellen (Metcalf) and William Harris.
She was preceded in death by her husband: William C. Allen.
She is survived by five children: William C. (Kathy) Allen of Newburg, Ind., Alvin E. “Gene” (Deborah) Allen of De Soto, Deborah Allen of De Soto, Curtis (the late Suzy) Allen of De Soto and Michael (Rachel) Allen of Kokomo, Ind.; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; as well as many other family members and friends.
She also was preceded in death by a stepmother: Mildred Imogene Harris; one son: Gilbert Allen; one brother: George M. Harris; and three grandchildren: Leslie Russell, Marty Hilderbrand and Brandy Helms.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at the funeral home with Chaplin Mark McMullin officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
