Martha Jane Buxton, 88, of High Ridge died July 30, 2026, at Crystal Oaks Nursing Home in Crystal City. Mrs. Buxton retired from US Bank after more than 30 years of serving the High Ridge Community. She enjoyed family-oriented activities, such as reunions and holidays, camping, traveling, making ceramics, playing cards, reading, gardening, embroidering, birding and watching sunsets. Her fondest adventures were traveling, taking rides to admire the fall colors and float trips down the Black River. Born Oct. 15, 1937, in Mill Spring, she was the daughter of Mabel (Agnew) and Clyde Mathis.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years: Hershel Ray Buxton.
She is survived by two daughters: Karen (James) Theiss of Barnhart and Susan (Rodney) Thompson of Willow Springs; two sons: Steven Buxton of High Ridge and Melvin (Kathy) Buxton of Troy; a daughter-in-law: Lorraine Buxton of House Springs; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three siblings: Hattie Messmer of Imperial, Imogene Prince of Moscow Mills and Joyce Johnson of Piedmont.
She also was preceded in death by two sons: Michael Ray Buxton and Kenneth Alan Buxton; a grandchild: Nicole S. Buxton; and 10 siblings.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, followed by a graveside service in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill.
