Anderson, Mark

Mark Anderson, 64, of Hillsboro died Nov. 11, 2025, in Chesterfield. Mr. Anderson was known for lending a helping hand to others, fixing what was broken and making sure those around him were cared for. He loved spending time with his family, being in nature, camping, traveling and hunting. For a time, he served as a Boy Scout troop leader, teaching young scouts the values of hard work, respect and adventure. He had a gift for woodworking and took pride in creating and fixing things. He was considered the family mechanic and the go-to problem solver. He loved the 1970s, especially the music and way of life. He also enjoyed old Westerns and could often be found relaxing in his favorite chair, watching classic films. He will be remembered for having a heart that was as big as his laugh. He will also be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor and one-liners, determination, craftsmanship and love. Born April 2, 1961, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Cletis and Bonnie (Tate) Anderson.

He is survived by his wife: Rose (Mercer) Anderson; three children: Amanda (Tony) Vaughn, Jenny (Jacob) Petty and David (Nicole) Anderson; seven grandchildren: Jake, Kailyn, River, Dean, Eva-Marie, Ender and Finley; four siblings: Robert Bowen, Calvin Anderson, Mary Christine Hamilton and Charles (Linda) Mercer; his bonus daughter/niece: Dawn (Damon) Buchanan; and numerous other family members and friends.

He also was preceded in death by two sisters: Phyllis Bowen and Theresa Mercer.

Visitation is scheduled from 4 p.m. until a funeral service at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org/donate. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
