Leonard Walter Bauman Sr., 92, of Cape Girardeau died Dec. 23, 2023. Mr. Bauman attended school in Wisconsin. He joined the U.S. Army on Nov. 16, 1950, and served as an aviation engineer until his honorable discharge on Nov. 15, 1953. He was a television technician and broadcast engineer while living in Wisconsin. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and Ham Radio Club. He loved ham radio, playing and singing music, gardening and most importantly spending time with her family and friends. Born Oct. 21, 1931, in Racine, Wis., he was the son of the late Marian (Clugg), a homemaker and mother of seven, and Otto A. Bauman, a locksmith.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Barbara Mae (Aubert) Bauman.
He is survived by a son: Leonard W. Bauman Jr. of Florida; three daughters: Barbara J. DeMartino of Florida, Carrie (Rich) Schubert of Crystal City and Sharon A. Pickard of Festus; a brother: Roy Bauman of Rhinelander, Wis.; a sister: Marian Moore of Hawaii; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
He also was preceded in death by a daughter: Marsha J. Sheets; two brothers: Otto and Earl Bauman; and two sisters: Alice Winchell and Deloris McDonald.
Services will be private. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS. 66675-8516. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel in Festus.
