LaVerne Rose Pappas, 100, of Festus died Jan. 20, 2024, at Crystal Oaks Nursing Center in Festus. Mrs. Pappas was a glassworker for PPG Industries in Crystal City. She enjoyed flower gardening, feeding the birds and watching them. She looked forward to going to their winter home in Florida where she enjoyed walking beaches and collecting seashells. She was known for her quick wit and humor and her favorite treat, Hershey Kisses. Born Nov. 9, 1923, in Kimmswick, she was the daughter of the late Rose (White) and Leo Arnold.
She was preceded in death by her husband: George Pappas.
She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She also was preceded in death by three brothers: Alvin (the late Emma Jean) Arnold, Lloyd (the late Rita) Arnold and Wilbert (the late Helen) Arnold.
Services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
