Klingler, Larry

Larry Douglas Klingler, 81, of Eureka died March 14, 2026. Mr. Klingler served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964. In 1967, he began his career with the Metropolitan St. Louis Police Department. He spent most of his police career on the Tactical Anti-Crime Team, where he partnered with his good friend, Jerome Klipfel. In 1979, he began his final career at UPS, where he worked until retirement in 2006. His love for fishing began at the Lake of the Ozarks, where he spent many years making memories with his family. Later in life, the 5K Farm became a place where his love of hunting was shared with his son, grandsons and best friend, Henry Mueller Jr. If he wasn’t at the farm, you could likely find him on the sidelines of his grandchildren’s games, cheering them on. Born Sept. 8, 1944, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Joseph T. and Matilda A. Klingler.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years: Janet F. (Roderman) Klingler, whom he married on Oct. 7, 1967; three children: Kristie Klingler (Wayne Schwentker) Yallaly, Tim (Jennifer) Klingler and Rebecca (Eric) Paoli; eight grandchildren: Dylan and Jacob Yallaly, Logan, Sophia and Weston Klingler and Ava, Nicholas and Alaina Paoli; and two brothers: Richard Klingler and Joseph Klingler.

Larry was preceded in death by a brother: Ronald Klingler.

Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until a memorial service at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at Schrader Funeral Home, 108 North Central Ave., in Eureka. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society-Leukemia/Lymphoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home.
