Thomas, Judy

Judy Darlene (Brown) Thomas, 69, of Florissant died Aug. 4, 2025. Mrs. Thomas was the youngest of seven children and spent her early life in De Soto. After graduating from De Soto High School, she married her husband. They were married for 40 years. She worked in multiple professions and her last position before retiring was as a receptionist at Veterans Homecare. She was a dedicated member of Overland Church of the Nazarene and later Gateway Church of the Nazarene. She loved and adored children and enjoyed teaching children of all ages. She was known as "Miss Judy." She also loved music and was a devoted choir member and sang many solos. She was passionate about her family, faith and caring for her cats. Born Dec. 31, 1955, in Bonne Terre, she was the daughter of the late James and Bonnie (Livengood) Brown.

She is survived by her husband: Billy Ray Thomas; a sister: Shirley Brown, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by several siblings in infancy and a sister: Patricia Ditch.

A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at Gateway Central Church of the Nazarene, 11703 Old Saint Charles Road, in Bridgeton, 63044. Interment will be in Lake Charles Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mrs. Thomas’ church family at Gateway Central Church of the Nazarene or to Hartland Rescue Animal Shelter, P.O. BOX 113, O'Fallon, 63366. Arrangements are under the direction of Hutchens Mortuary and Cremation Center in Florissant.
