Judith Ann Michael, 80, of Festus died March 17, 2026, at the Catholic Care Center of Wichita, Kan. Mrs. Michael was a social worker. Born Nov. 13, 1945, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy Edna Copley and Oscar Charles Tappeiner.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years: William Joseph Michael Jr.
She is survived by two children: John D. Michael of Old Monroe and Cheryl A. Shepherd of Arkansas City, Kan.; and three grandchildren: Rebecca L. Michael of St. Peters, Meaghan A. Michael of Stanton and Jacob M. Shepherd of Arkansas City, Kan.
She also was preceded in death by a sibling: Dr. Daniel A. Tappeiner.
A memorial graveside service took place on April 3 in Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart.
