Joyce Bernice Fox, 93, of Defiance died March 10, 2025, in St. Louis. Mrs. Fox was a homemaker and, after raising her children, became a certified nurse’s assistant. After her time as a CNA, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of Peace Tabernacle Church in Hillsboro. Born Aug. 24, 1931, in Potosi, she was the daughter of the late George and Frieda (Venable) LaChance.
She was preceded in death by her husband: William Carl Fox.
She is survived by two sons: Gary (Deborah) Fox of Festus and Michael (Karen) Fox of High Ridge; four daughters: Sheila (Jerry) Croston of Summerdale, Ala., Elaine (Darrell) Duncan of Defiance, Linda (Thomas) Akers of Konawa, Okla., and Ronda (David) Verret of Columbia, Ill.; a sister: Shirley Middleton of O'Fallon; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.
She also was preceded in death by a brother: Muriel LaChance; and a sister: Janet Pruitt.
Visitation is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at Solid Rock Church, 899 Gravois Road, in Fenton, officiated by Bishop Rudy Theissen and Pastor Tim Theissen. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the Building Fund at the Peace Tabernacle Church in Hillsboro. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel in Festus.
