
Joshua Dale Rider, 50, of Festus died Nov. 1, 2023, at The Center of Advanced Medicine in St. Louis. Mr. Rider worked in the grocery business for a total of 31 years at Price Chopper, Shop N Save and Schnucks, all in the Arnold area. He attended Camp Allen Church Camps and was baptized in 1990 at Bethesda General Baptist Church in Imperial by Rev. Johnny Gipson. He loved the outdoors, fishing, bowling, racing RC cars and spending time with his family. He will be remembered for having a great sense of humor and making people laugh. Born Sept. 7, 1973, in Kirkwood, he was the son of Terry “Lynn” and Deborah “Debby” (Baldwin) Rider of Barnhart.
He is survived by his wife: Jennifer Lynn (Strong) Rider of Festus; two children: Kingston Gabriel Brown and Kaiden Jace Brown, both of Festus; two brothers: Chad Edmond (Amanda) Rider of St. Louis and Nicholas John Rider of Festus; sister: Lyndsey Marie Rider of Barnhart; two nephews: Kamron Daniel Rider and Chance Franklin Rider Coyle, both of Barnhart; two uncles: Jeffrey Baldwin of California and Denny (Sue) Rider of High Ridge; two aunts: Cindy (Brian) Lang of Festus and Susan (Scott) Sadler of Pevely; a brother-in-law Jeremy (Trina) Strong of Perryville: as well as many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Willard Medford Rider and Virginia (Ragsdale) Rider; maternal grandparents: Glenwood Baldwin and Velvie Marie (Rieffer) Baldwin; and an uncle: Gregory Baldwin.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. A gathering is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, at Bethesda General Baptist Church in Imperial, officiated by Rev. Johnny Gipson. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
