Sanchez, Joseph

Joseph Simeon Sanchez, 82, of De Soto died Aug. 3, 2025, at Delmar Gardens in Chesterfield. Mr. Sanchez was known as a man of wit, warmth, conviction and love for his family. He was a passionate advocate for acceptance, tolerance and inclusion. A dedicated attorney, he found purpose in representing others in the courtroom and standing up for what he believed was right. He enjoyed long road trips to be with far-away family, shared meals filled with spirited conversation and porch rocking chair sessions while watching the ocean at the Surf Hotel on Block Island. He was a long-time collector of coins and stamps and was a keen observer of history, politics and religion. He served in the U.S. Army and was of the Lutheran faith. He was an avid Red Sox fan who took great delight in every win. Above all, he had an unrelenting sweet tooth. He will be remembered for his curiosity, compassion, courage and kindness. Born Oct. 23, 1942, in New Bedford, Mass., he was the son of the late Harriette (Roberts) and Robert Albert Sanchez II.

He is survived by his wife: Kathleen (Schraer) Sanchez of Jefferson County; three children: Karen E. (Edward J. “Teddy”) Karl of Ballwin, Joseph Simeon (Michelle Walsh) Sanchez II of Creve Coeur and William Albert (Erin Goodenough) Sanchez of Bella Villa; three grandchildren: Ethan Charles Karl of Fenton, Victoria Marion Karl of Ballwin and Emmitt Sanchez of Bella Villa; and many other family members and friends.

Family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date.
