
Joseph Glenn Hackney, 76, of Dittmer died July 12, 2025, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County. Mr. Hackney retired from IBM as a communication coordinator. He had served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. His passion was working on the family farm. Born March 2, 1949, in St. Louis, he was the son of Joseph Lynn “Bud” and Lucille (Holmes) Hackney.
He is survived by his wife: Linda (Brown) Hackney of Dittmer; a sister: Sarah Hackney of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother: Steven Hackney of Dittmer; and many other family members and friends.
Visitation is scheduled from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 17, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. Following the visitation, a funeral Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 504 S Third St., in De Soto, officiated by Father Vincent Nyman. A funeral procession will leave the Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home at 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 18, and travel to the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks for a 1:30 p.m. graveside service with military honors. Memorials may be made to the De Soto Food Pantry, P.O. Box 552, De Soto, 63020. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
