Jones, Johnnie

Johnnie Jones, 92, of Hillsboro died Feb. 15, 2025, in Woodstock, Ga. Mr. Jones was a retired general foreman for Inland Container and was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War as Private First Class. He enjoyed fishing, boating and traveling. He loved spending his time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends. Born Dec. 12, 1932, in Gay's Creek, Ky., he was the son of the late Ballard Jones and Nora (West) Jones.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Sally (Noble) Jones.

He is survived by a daughter: Janice L. (Chuck) Crockett; a daughter-in-law: Leta Jones; three granddaughters and a grandson: Jennifer Jones, Shawnna (Jake) Haynes, Jessica (Mike) Jones and Jonathan (Shannon) Crockett; 10 great-grandchildren: Tyler (Shania) Harden, Luke Harden, Drayton (Beth) Jones, Madison (Sammie) Davis, Sadie Kaspar, Amazing Haynes, Sonny Harden, Lil Haynes, Lucky Haynes and Austin Crockett; and four great-great-grandchildren: Vivienne Jones, Jameson Davis, Evangeline Jones and Colter Davis.

He also was preceded in death by a son: John "Michael" Jones.

Visitation is scheduled from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, March 2, at Chapel Hill Mortuary-Robert Brown Chapel, 103 4th St., in Hillsboro. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. Monday, March 3, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice or the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary-Robert Brown Chapel.
