Joan D. (Sims) Boxx, 78, of Arnold died April 19, 2024, in St. Louis County. Mrs. Boxx earned her master's degree in education from Southwest Baptist University. She taught science and mathematics at the Fox School District. She was a very active member at First Baptist Church of Oakville. She also was a member of the University of Missouri Extension Council of Jefferson County and enjoyed helping in county elections. Born October 28, 1945, in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Nola (Johnson) and Essie Sims.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years: James P. Boxx Jr. of Arnold; three children: James P. (Christina) Boxx III of Arnold, Elizabeth Boxx and Cynthia Harmon of St. Louis County; four grandchildren: Lacie (Kevin) Boydston of Springfield, Aniston Boxx, Brayden Boxx and Madelynn Boxx of Arnold; two great-grandchildren: Atlas and Jasper Boydston of Springfield; a sibling; Patty Sheaffer of Owensboro, Ky.; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by three siblings: William Sims, Gerline (William survives) Hammers and Jerry Sims.
Visitation is scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday, April 26, at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, in St. Louis County. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, at First Baptist Church of Oakville, 6741 Telegraph Road. Burial will follow in Shepherd Hills in Barnhart. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis South County Chapel.
