Jimmy L. Staggs, 81, of De Soto died Oct. 20, 2026, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County. Mr. Staggs worked at General Motors and was a member of United Auto Workers. Born March 10, 1945, in East Prairie, he was the son of the late Ellis and Mattie (Williams) Staggs.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years: Teena (Roberson) Staggs of De Soto; three children: Angela (Dale) Landholt of Hillsboro, Jimmy Staggs of Imperial and Amanda Zinn of De Soto; nine grandchildren: Ryan (Jennifer) Landholt, Jordan (Lauren) Landholt, Kelsey (Walter Blomberg) Landholt, Mackinzie Staggs, Annie Zinn, Emma Zinn, Alehsyn Zinn, Noah Zinn and Reese Zinn; six great-grandchildren: Harper, Conner, Nolan, Adelyn, Ryleigh and Charlotte; four siblings: Bob (Pat) Staggs of De Soto, Robert (Nancy) Staggs of Doniphan, Billy (the late Sandy) Staggs of Yakima, Wash., and Lois (Mark) Marshall of Houston, Texas; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
A celebration of life is scheduled from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at LaChance Winery, 12237 Peter Moore Lane, in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
