James F. Westfall, 87, of Hillsboro died Aug. 19, 2024. Mr. Westfall served in the Missouri National Guard. He retired after teaching for 30 years and driving a school bus for 47 years for the Grandview School District. He also drove for Huskey Bus Service, raised cattle on his Ware farm, was a pilot and enjoyed traveling. Born Oct. 30, 1936, in Kennett, he was the son of the late Bessie Mae (Pilkenton) and Benjamin Franklin Westfall.
He is survived by his wife: Judy Lee (nee Montgomery) Westfall of Hillsboro; two grandchildren: Whitney (Sam) Stephenson and Meckenzie Westfall; two great-grandchildren: Brie and Brooke Stephenson; a good friend: Stephanie Votran; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by two sons: Bob Westfall and Bryan Westfall; and three sisters: Virginia McGinnis, Ada Balter and Naomi Tucker.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at the funeral home, officiated by Biff Mahn, Dan Eaker and Lonnie Turnbeaugh. Inurnment will be in Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery in Ware. Memorials may be made to Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church or the Jefferson County Cattlemen’s Association to help support local 4-H and F.F.A. chapters. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
