Sullenger, Irene

Irene Mary Sullenger, 81, of De Soto died Feb. 4, 2025, in Park Hills. Mrs. Sullenger was a stay-at-home mom and often babysat her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, canning, boating, fishing, sewing, crocheting, watching Cardinals baseball, listening to music and going to concerts with her daughter. She also enjoyed bowling and coaching others in the sport. As a survivor of breast cancer, she was a proud supporter of breast cancer awareness. She participated in many Susan G. Komen events, walked in awareness parades and supported others in their fight against breast cancer. She will be remembered for her warmth, love and vibrant spirit. Born Nov. 25, 1943, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Lavon (Cobb) and Harvey John Berry Sr.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Larry Sullenger.

She is survived by two children: Teresa (Skippy) Hagedorn and Brian (Denise) Sullenger; six grandchildren: Megan (Rob) Moore, Anthony Cates, Liz Hagedorn (Colin), Dane Hagedorn, Justin Sullenger and Candance Sullenger; seven great-grandchildren: Hunter, Sawyer, Cooper, Presley, Avrey, Emilee and Paislee; two good friends: Leigh and Kay; and many other family members and friends.

She also was preceded in death by two siblings: Harvey Berry Jr. and Chester P. Berry.

Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until a funeral service at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
