Vineyard, Henry

Henry “Dale” Vineyard, 90, of Festus died Dec. 26, 2025, at Ste. Genevieve Care Center in Ste. Genevieve. Mr. Vineyard served in the Missouri National Guard. He was a retired painter having worked with the St. Louis Painters Union and the St. Louis City Schools. He was a longtime softball coach, known for his patience and passion for the game. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed cheering for his grandchildren at their games, performances and activities. Born May 14, 1935, in Ste. Genevieve County, he was the son of the late Edith (Wagner) and Lilburn Vineyard.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Mary Lou (Schweigert) Vineyard. 

He is survived by four children: Dena (Ronald) Lucas of Festus, Kevin (Kristen) Vineyard of East Haven, Conn., Tracy (Jeffrey) Kempfer of Crystal City and Tricia (James) Green of Herculaneum; 10 grandchildren: Jessica (fiance Nick Roth) Lucas, Adam Lucas, Montana (Jamie) Kempfer, Cole (Amanda) Kempfer, Ray Kempfer, Rebekah Vineyard, Zachary (fiancee Nina Dalton) Vineyard, Justin Green, Madison (Jacob) Sheppard and Morgan Green; and five great-grandchildren: Amelia, Asher, Adalae, Sabrina and Aurora. 

He also was preceded in death by three brothers: Clifford (the late Norma) Vineyard, Wyman (the late Betty) Vineyard and Bob Vineyard; and three sisters: Thelma (the late Eugene) McCreary, Ethel (the late Claude) Miller and Wanda (the late Amos) Geiler. 

Visitation is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Scott Douglas of Impact Church of Festus. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to Journey Hospice, 118 W. St. Joseph St., Perryville, 63775. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
