Hottinger, Helga

Helga Hofmann Miller Hottinger, 83, of Festus died April 21, 2024. Mrs. Hottinger worked as a seamstress in Germany and a CNA in Missouri. She enjoyed being a caregiver to her children, grandchildren, and all the others who called her “oma.” She also enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, playing bingo, cooking up her rouladen, drinking beer with 7UP and singing “Happy Birthday to You” in German and ending the song with a big “hooray.” She will be remembered for her bright smile. Born Jan.  4, 1941, in Goldkronach, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Andreas and Katharina (Krodel) Hofmann.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Harold (Davy) Hottinger.

She is survived by three children: Charles (Karen) Miller, Norbert (Cindy) Miller and Barbara Garrett; seven grandchildren: Joseph Miller,  Zachary (Megan) Garrett, Christina (Zachary) Cavanaugh, Michael Sams, Jason Miller, Jennifer Steffan and Jason Founie; 11 great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Joseph, Cody, Justin, Ethan, Gavin, Azalia, Alexis, Shay, Taris and Riley; three great-great-grandchildren: Jasper, Liam and Wesley; a brother: JoHann Hofmann; and many other family members and friends.

She also was preceded in death by three brothers: Karl, Ludwig and Willy Hofmann; a sister: Gretel Zell; and a great-grandchild: Eliza Nordman.

A celebration of life is scheduled from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Monday, April 29, at First Baptist Church of Pevely-Herculaneum, 1315 Abbey Lane. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
