Harley Craig Hargis, 73, of Hillsboro died April 4, 2026, at his home. Mr. Hargis served in the U.S. Air Force from 1971 to 1973 and was a retired truck driver. Born Jan. 28, 1953, he was the son of the late Harley Lee Hargis and Julia (Mills) Hargis.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years: Connie (Studley) Hargis of Hillsboro; three sons: Ronald Hargis (his former wife, Deborah Frattini Hargis), Harley William Hargis and Carl Aaron Hargis; grandchildren: Riley, Ronald Jr., Reese, Grace and Harley Thorin Hargis; and siblings: Karen (Robert) Gallagher, Linda (Jeffrey) Wright and Gary (Krystal) Hargis.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to t2t.org or woundedwarriorsproject.org. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
