Granville Arnold Patterson, 97, of Arnold died Aug. 26, 2023. Mr. Patterson served in the U.S. Army in World War II and earned a Purple Heart as well as an Expert Rifleman Medal. Born June 24, 1926, in Quilin, he was the son of the late Emma Jane (Black) and Harvey Arnold Patterson. He was preceded in death by his spouses: Ella Patterson and Loyce Patterson.
He is survived by three children: Danny (Rita) Patterson, Pam (the late Greg) Myers and Brian Patterson; one sibling: Imogene; 16 grandchildren: David (Marilyn), Heather (Vince), Mandy (Rick), Kristy (Mike), Bobby, Glenn, Jon (Sam), Bret, Cory (Lacey), Katy (Travis), Dana (Nicole), Jake (Kacey), Zach (Tameka), Sarah, Tyler and Brandon; 24 great-grandchildren: Adrian, Ava, Cayden, AJ, Alyssa, Vinny, Lucas, Olivia, Paige, Austin, Chance, Conner, Leah, Blake, Bobby Jr., Aleah, Makayla, Victoria, Gabe, Levi, Hayden, Madison, Kylie and Logan; one great-great-grandchild on the way; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by three children: Dennis (Pat survives) Patterson, Bruce (Kim survives) Patterson and Steve (Liz survives) Patterson; and five siblings: Ruby, Noble, George, Wilbur and Gene.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31, at Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home, 1081 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 1, in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks, with full military honors. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to a foster care organization. Arrangements are under the direction of Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home.
