Gerolene (Eggers) Hografe, 87, of Robertsville died Oct. 29, 2025, in St. Clair. Mrs. Hografe loved spending time with her family and often gave gifts to others. She was a longtime and devoted member of St. Martin’s UCC. She found peace and happiness in bird watching and took pride in her cooking, which brought comfort to many gatherings. She was known as a loving and caring woman who enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. She will be remembered for her warmth, kindness and gentle spirit. Born Dec. 31, 1937, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Caroline (Wille) Eggers.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Harold Hografe.
She is survived by five children: Bonnie (Joseph) Toomey, Shirley (John) Roth-Roffy, Kenneth Hografe, Mark Hografe and David Hografe; seven grandchildren: Kurtis (Lindsay) Hografe, Michael (Alexandira) Toomey, Stephen Toomey, Kevin (Megan) Toomey, Eric Roth-Roffy (Jillian Lane), Brian (Abby) Roth-Roffy and Matthew Hografe; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother: Wayne Eggers; Wayne’s children: Gene (Dawn) Eggers, Joseph (Donna) Eggers and Nita Eggers; and numerous other family members and friends.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. A funeral ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, at St. Martin’s United Church of Christ, 7890 Dittmer Ridge Road, in Dittmer, 63023. Interment will immediately follow in St. Martin’s United Church of Christ Cemetery in Dittmer. Memorial donations may be made to St. Martin’s United Church of Christ Cemetery Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
