Gerald Joseph Olinger, 62, of Festus died Dec. 6, 2024, at his home. Mr. Olinger was a lead smelter for Doe Run. He enjoyed being outside, all things related to sports, pulling pranks and jokes and, most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. Born Sept. 22, 1962, in St. Louis, he was the son of Carol (Olinger) Boyer of Festus.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife: Dawn Celeste (Nelson) Olinger of Festus; a son: Gerald Olinger Jr. of Florida; a stepson: Donald (Emily) Thomas of Festus; a stepdaughter: Jessica Perdomo-Ipock of Festus; two brothers: David (Stephanie) Lucas of Festus and Kyle (Amy) Boyer of Festus; a sister: Lola (Scot) Grobe of Festus; seven grandchildren: Brenden, Madeline, Ty, Mason, Karlee, Donald Jr. and Reagan; three stepsisters; and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a stepfather: Glennon Boyer; two grandparents: Nelly and Edward Olinger; a stepson: Zachary Perdomo; and a daughter: Melanie Sue Olinger.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 4 p.m. until services at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Drive, in Festus, officiated by the Rev. Ryan Sutton. Memorials may be made to a fund at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
