George A. Ponzar III, 68, of Cadet died June 8, 2025, at Georgian Gardens in Potosi. Mr. Ponzar was a retired tire installer for Chrysler and a member of UAW Local 110. He was a member of the Cruisers Car Club and was proud of his 1962 Impala that his grandfather had given him. Born Nov. 4, 1956, in Bonne Terre, he was the son of the late Geraldine "Jackie" (Wood) and George A. Ponzar Jr.
He is survived by his wife: Cheryl (Boyer) Ponzar of Cadet; a child: Anthony "Tony" Ponzar of Farmington; a sister: Regina (the late Earl) Casey of Hillsboro; a brother: Richard "Rick" (Terry) Ponzar of Festus; three sisters-in-law: Sandy (the late Wayne) Bailey of De Soto, Claudia (Charlie) Harper of Cadet and Debbie (the late George) McClelland of Barnhart; a brother-in-law: Gene (Gina) Boyer of Affton; and his dog: Sadie.
He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law: Joe Boyer
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, June 13, at the funeral home, officiated by Deacon Ed Boyer. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
