Gene W. Voisey, 80, of De Soto died June 18, 2026, at his home. Mr. Voisey retired as a truck driver for Fred Weber Inc. and was a member of Teamsters Local 682. He was known as a devoted family man and a consummate handyman who had a fun and witty personality. He enjoyed carpentry projects and restoring antique automobiles and farm equipment. Born May 18, 1946, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Charles Richard and Thelma (Fulcher) Voisey.
He is survived by three children: Jay (Danielle Geist) Voisey of De Soto, David (Christy Heth) Voisey of De Soto and Amanda (William) Tipton of Dittmer; seven grandchildren: Taylor, Courtney, Dawson, Sydney, Samuel, Bradyn and Reid; and his girlfriend: Carolyn Cates of Ellsinore, whom he called “his darlin.”
He was preceded in death by three sisters: Lulu Hahn, Aleine Guintea and Dora Webber and two brothers: Richard Voisey and Charles Voisey Jr.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Friday, June 26, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
