Gale M. Powell, 84, of Millstadt, Ill., formerly of Arnold, died Oct. 5, 2025, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County. Mr. Powell worked as a meat cutter and a farmer. Born July 4, 1941, in Farmington, he was the son of the late Iva (Patterson) and Martin Powell.
He is survived by his wife: Grace (Glatt) Powell; three children: Peggy Rabun of St. Louis, Rodney (Connie) Powell of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Chad (Shelley) Powell of Millstadt, Ill.; eight grandchildren: Maura, Tristan and Liam Rabun, Sadie (Brandon) Hamilton, Jacey, Justin, Max and Miles Powell; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by two siblings: Connie (Robert survives) Smith and Fern (Gene survives) Smallen.
Visitation is scheduled from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry, in St. Louis County. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 3517 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis South County Chapel.
