
Doris “Rosalie” Dunker, 91, of Crystal City died May 9, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Dunker was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City, where she was an active volunteer for many chili dinners and annual picnics, and was known for her homemade jams, jellies and pickles. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, was nearly a 50-year volunteer with the Jefferson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and served lunches to the Festus-Crystal City Kiwanis Club at the former Theodoro’s Restaurant in Crystal City. She joined the Kiwanis club as a member and went on to hold numerous offices and serve on the Kiwanis board of directors. She loved to crochet, study cookbooks, bake cookies and travel. Born Sept.15, 1933, in Iron County, she was the daughter of the late Mabel Colleen (Pinkley) and Henry Archie “Arch” Coleman.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years: Elmer Richard Dunker.
She is survived by two daughters: Karen (Jeff) McCarty of Festus and Barbara (Bill) Palmer of Sikeston; four grandchildren: Rhonda Palmer of Joplin, Michaela Palmer of Springfield, Penn., Erin (Bill) Morgan of West End, N.C., and Kevin McCarty of Crystal City; and three great-grandchildren: Iain Palmer, Finn Morgan and Aven Morgan.
She also was preceded in death by four sisters: Eileen (the late Robert) Moreland, Armildia (the late Francis “Fronze”) Walker, Betty Lou (the late Clyde) Hall and Rosemary Yvonne Fallert; and three brothers: Daymond Coleman, Darriel (the late Betty) Coleman and Harold (Carla survives of Dubuque, Iowa) Coleman.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. until a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, at Sacred Heart Church, 555 Bailey Road, in Crystal City, officiated by Father Steve Lian. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
