Hale, Doris

Doris Caldwell Hale, 92, of De Soto died Sept. 21, 2024. Mrs. Hale was a teller for the American Bank of De Soto and retired from the State Bank of De Soto. Born Jan. 15, 1932, in De Soto, she was the daughter of the late Pearl (Reynolds) and Lloyd Johnson.

She was preceded in death by two husbands: Howard Caldwell and Bob Hale.

She is survived by three children: Karen (Edgar) Huffman, Rodney (Karen) Caldwell and Brenda Halton, all of De Soto; nine grandchildren: Amy (Dan) Hickman, Julie (Matt) Czapla, Justin (Christina) Caldwell, Jenni (Brian) McAllister, Sara (Matt) McAllister, Amanda (Jerry Nappier) McCullough, Josh (Emily) McCullough, Clay Halton and Chelsey (Jake) Theiling; 32 great-grandchildren and two more on the way; and three great-great-grandchildren on the way.

She also was preceded in death by a grandson: Andrew Huffman; a sister: Betty (Ben) Gowan; and a son-in-law: Larry Halton.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at Redeemer Luther Church, 1620 Boyd St., in De Soto, officiated by the Rev. Dr. G. Michael Rose. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
