Nagy, Diane

Diane (Lillian) Nagy, 81, of Herculaneum died Jan. 17, 2026. Ms. Nagy worked at Ross & Baruzzini and Bell Electric before retirement. She was an active member of the National Association of Women in Construction. After retirement, she was a guiding presence at the Kimmswick Historical Society Museum & Hall, spending many weekends greeting visitors, sharing her knowledge of the area and collaborating with the city of Kimmswick and Kimmswick merchants. She had been president of the Kimmswick Historical Society since 2019. She played a pivotal role in leading tours and welcoming guests, especially those from the American Queen River Cruises. She was instrumental in community fundraising after the 2019 flood, spearheading efforts such as the Taste of Kimmswick Project and organizing the 2017 Kimmswick Solar Eclipse Experience. Each year, she enriched the annual Cookie Walk Book with her forewords. She contributed to the Jefferson County 200 committee for the county’s bicentennial celebration. In Herculaneum, she served on the City Tree Board, Employee Review Board, Events Committee and Historical Society. She helped organize the Evening with Santa, Tree City Celebrations, Easter egg hunts, parades and the annual Fire Engine Rally. She enjoyed Elvis music, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, NASCAR, football, trying new recipes, crocheting and attending Thursday night bingo at La Pachanga. She will be remembered for her kindness, storytelling, dedication to the community and historical stewardship. She was born June 12, 1944.

She is survived by two nephews: Jeffrey (Laura) Nagy and Daniel Nagy; a great-niece: Kimberly (Robert) Smith; two great-nephews: Robert (Laura) Nagy and Keith (Katie) Nagy; and four great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother: Milton Nagy.

A celebration of life will be from 1-4 p.m. with a remembrance ceremony at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 1, at the Kimmswick Historical Society Museum & Hall, 6000 Third St., in Kimmswick.
