Dennis Eugene Bowling, 71, of Pevely died Sept. 2, 2026, at his home. Mr. Bowling was a hardworking and dedicated mechanic for many years and was known for his love of automobiles. An avid car enthusiast, he enjoyed working with his hands and sharing his knowledge and passion for vehicles with others throughout his life. He was also a proud member of Amvets. He loved spending time outdoors, especially caring for his yard, and could often be found grilling, watching the birds from his porch, listening to the Cardinals games or swimming at his country property. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love for family, his willingness to help others and the enjoyment he found in life's simple moments. Born March 22, 1955, he was the son of Charlotte (Heaps) Jones of Hillsboro and the late Darrell Bowling.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two brothers: Keith Bowling of Ironton and Kelly Bowling of Pevely; two sisters: Charlotte Bowling of Greenville and Angela Bowling of Pevely; four children: Tonya Marie Feltman of Pevely, Dennis Barbier of St. Louis, Melissa Wolf of Little River, Kan., and Katherine Cahill of Chicago, Ill.; along with numerous grandchildren, extended family members and friends.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother: David Lynn Bowling; a son: Darrell Jarred Bowling; and a daughter: Heather Ann Ford.
A celebration of life and informal memorial service is scheduled from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at Amvets Post 42, 555 Joachim Ave., in Herculaneum. Floral arrangements will be accepted by the family at the Amvets. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary, Robert Brown Chapel, in Hillsboro.
