Ward, David

David Lynn Ward, 71, of Lockhart, Ala., died Dec. 7, 2024. Mr. Ward spent his early years doing work in the timber business, building electrical power lines and as a mechanic. He would eventually retire as a homebuilder after 40 years in St. Louis. He was a Christian. In his free time, he enjoyed reading, riding his Harley, hunting, fishing and camping. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time and making memories with his grandchildren, family and friends. Born Sept. 27, 1953, in Fredericktown, he was the son of the late James Elwood and Virginia Elizabeth Ward.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years: Sheila Ward; a son: Travis (Brandon) Jarvis Ward; a daughter: Emily (Christopher) Welch; seven grandchildren: Jacob, Triston and Kaleb Ward, Gabriel, Cloe, Macy and Jackson Welch; a sister: Virginia (Glen) Slinkard; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Daniel.

A celebration of life is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, April 26, in the Longleaf Yellow Pine Memorial Park in Lockhart, Ala.
