Corlis Gail Chapman, 74, of Chapin, S.C., formerly of Festus, died Feb. 22, 2026, at her home. Ms. Chapman was a 1969 Festus High School graduate and attended Jefferson Community College. She enjoyed watching movies, especially Snow White, Lady and the Tramp and Grease. She loved all animals, but horses held a special place in her heart. Getting her hair done was a special treat for her, and she looked forward to going to the salon with her sisters. She will be remembered for her pure heart and kindness. Born Nov. 18, 1951, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Imogene Chapman and Oscar Chapman. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, the late Viola and Howard Clark.
She is survived by two sisters: Barbara J. Chapman and Patricia A. (Sean) Digby; two nephews: Jason Digby and Christopher (Layla) Digby; five great-nieces and nephews; and three great-great-nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Lexington County Animal Services, 321 Ballpark Road, Lexington, SC 29072, or to a local animal shelter of the donor’s choice.
